Maintask’s Digest of Salesforce Spring 24 Features for Every Admin and App Builder
Maintask’s Digest of Salesforce Spring 24 Features for Every Admin and App Builder

The Salesforce Spring '24 Release has been accessible in production environments since early February, offering an array of enhancements across all Salesforce Clouds and products.

While we recommend reviewing the official release notes to discover updates relevant to your Salesforce organization, we've curated a selection of improvements that we believe will benefit every admin and app builder.

Display Fields From Related Object on a Record Page

Dynamic forms continue to evolve, and we're eagerly anticipating their ability to fully replace page layouts. With each new release, we see valuable additions to Dynamic Forms and Spring ‘24 brings us the ability to display fields from a parent object directly on a child object's record page.

For instance, Account fields can now be shown on a Contact’s detail page. Previously, this required either a formula field on the child object or a combination of Quick Update action on the parent and Related Record component on the child. These workarounds are no longer needed.

Rich Text and Image Dashboard Widgets Now Available Across All Editions

Introduced in the Summer '23 release, rich text and image widgets for Dashboards allowed admins to enhance dashboard presentations with explanatory texts, logos, headlines, and more, thus improving user experience. Initially exclusive to Unlimited Edition customers, this feature has been extended to all Salesforce editions as of Spring '24.

Enhance Dashboards With up to Five Filters in All Editions

Previously, the capability to add up to five filters on a dashboard was an exclusive benefit for Unlimited Edition users, with a maximum of three filters available to others. Starting with the Spring '24 release, all editions can now enjoy adding up to five filters, enabling more granular data analysis in charts and tables.

Simplifying Multiple Field Rearrangements in Reports

Since Spring ‘24, admins have the ability to easily rearrange multiple fields in reports at the same time. This convenient feature, previously only found in Salesforce Classic, has been introduced to Lightning Experience.

Admins can select and move multiple fields simultaneously by holding down the Ctrl (or Cmd) key and clicking on the fields they wish to rearrange.

Repeater Component in Screen Flows (Beta)

First highlight for app builders in Maintask’s digest is the introduction of the Repeater Component in screen flows, currently in Beta.

This feature simplifies the collection of multiple instances of the same information, such as a guest list for an event, into a single form. It eliminates the need for users to navigate through multiple pages, enhancing the user experience.

Any use of the Beta Service is subject to the applicable Beta Services Terms provided at Agreements and Terms.

Aggregation in Transform Element (Beta)

Introduced in beta in the Winter '24 Release, the Transform element in flows allows for efficient data copying, field mapping, and value transformation from source to target.

The new aggregation capability within this element permits operations like counting records or summarizing field values from a source data collection for storage in a target data field, streamlining processes that would otherwise require Loop and Assignment elements.

This aggregation feature is also in Beta. Any use of the Beta Service is subject to the applicable Beta Services Terms provided at Agreements and Terms.

Reactivity Support for Text Templates

Wrapping up our overview, the Spring '24 release introduces support for reactive Text Templates within screen flows, further enhancing user experience.

Following the introduction of reactive flow components in API version 57.0 (Spring ‘23), this advancement allows for dynamic responses to updates directly on the same screen.

With reactive Text Templates, users can, for instance, effortlessly create an interactive email composer without the need to refresh the screen or navigate to another page to view results.
